haha thank you very much, i think we are both alike in that we experiment with many styles and are getting better... i'm honored that you like my works
Yes agreed, it can be a challenge to find a style that consistently works, I am always editing mine. I love to see the progression of art even more than the finished product sometimes, I'll definitely be checking to see what new things you post. Keep up the good work!
Ah i agree, some people think that most art is automatic and is just muscle memory like taking a jump shot... but for me its always a process of trial and error. Even with techniques i've used before that were successfull, when i attempt them again, the results are not what i had hoped for. Although that's part of the appeal i suppose, how pleasantly surprised you can be through experimentation. I'll continue to view your works as well because i feel we are both mad scientists trying to create something unique and interesting...
Too true, I have people all the time, even that I just met, that know that I like to do art be like "will you make me something?" and then ask me two days later if I've done it yet. Well, no, it takes me time just to even come up with a concept, and once I have that, I have to learn to become detached from it because the mind sees it as an ideal, but the muscles move organically, not magically : ). I try to use all ideas as inspiration, not goals, then I can still be just as satisfied when I finish with an entirely different piece.
Thats a really good/healthy approach to take, i have to remind myself that if im working with reference materials that it doesnt have to come out looking exactly like those images... Its better if your rendition has some kind of distortion or different quality, we are far beyond the days of having to re-create that kind of realism where photography and digital manipulation reign supreme... Not to celebrate lazy painting or inaccuracies of course and realism is a foundation all painters should aspire toward that i have great respect (even envy ) for.
Yea definitely, I have much more respect for artists that build their technical skill before attempting abstraction. Good abstraction often stems from a thorough understanding of the technical, then you can determine what to exaggerate to make the mark you want. But as much as I can appreciate realism and exactitude, I wholeheartedly agree that realm is being overpowered by digital arts. Interesting artists experiment and push boundaries, even if that means being a bit "strange".
